If you have come to this web site, you may have parents who have gotten a divorce or who are in the process of getting a divorce. Divorce can be a difficult time for you. Below are some notes from other kids just like you.
Hi Kids,
My name is Dusty and I am glad you came to this web site. You may have parents who have divorced or parents who are thinking about it. My mom and dad got a divorce when I was 7 years old. I didn’t like it too much and in the beginning I was real mad. Sometimes I even felt like crying. I want you to know that things will get better. It just takes time. One thing that really helped me was to talk about my feelings. I had lots of feelings that I used to keep bottled up inside of me. Sometimes I had so many feelings inside, I thought I would explode. Once I learned to talk about my feelings, I began to feel better.
Remember, it will get better.
Hi There,
My name is Abby and I am 10 years old. My mom and dad got divorced last year. There have been many changes in my family. My dad doesn’t live with us anymore and we moved to a different house. When my mom told be that there was going to be a divorce, I cried a lot. I didn’t understand why my parents wanted to get a divorce. I didn’t think I would ever be happy again. I even wondered if the divorce was my fault. I talked to my mom and dad about this and they both told me that divorce is never a kid’s fault. They told me that they still loved me and that they would always love me. This made me feel much better. Whenever I feel confused about divorce or the changes, I just talk about it. This really helps.
Hang in there & remember, divorce is never a kid’s fault.
